Eileen Muir – Director

Eileen Muir (Namaste)Eileen Muir (Parsvakonasana)Eileen Muir began her yoga training in 1969 at the age of 13.  Her study of yoga led her to India, China, and Japan. She has been devoted to studying and teaching the Iyengar method since 1983 and practiced Vipassana Meditation for over 25 years.  Six years ago she began doing Global Awareness Meditation with Adyashanti.  Nisargardatta Maharaj and Adyashanti are her teachers.  Nisargardatta Maharaj (1897-1981) taught Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism) in Mumbai Bombay, India. She believes Adyashanti is the living embodiment of his teachings.

In addition to being a Yoga Alliance certified teacher, Eileen is also an AOBTA-certified instructor of Shiatsu therapy and she teaches a year-long 200-hour teacher training program and a 300-hour advanced teacher training. Eileen’s teaching is infused with the passion and understanding that comes from her commitment to yoga as a spiritual path to relieve suffering. Each class is an exploration into stillness, moving from gross to subtle while gently penetrating the layers of our being. She brings compassion and vitality to her classes along with close attention to every student. A native of Scotland, Eileen also brings a lively Celtic spirit and humor to her teaching.

Kendra Renzoni – Yoga Instructor / Studio Manager

Kendra Renzoni is a graduate of Karuna’’s 200-hour yoga teacher training and is certified by the yoga alliance. She is currently in the advanced teacher training working towards her 500-hour level of certification. Before coming to Karuna she was certified by the yoga alliance at the 200-hour level to teach vinyasa yoga and was influenced by teachers such as Richard Freeman and Dharma Mittra. She now brings the intelligence of Iyengar Yoga into the practice of vinyasa. She is also a Vipassana meditator and it has profoundly changed her life. Kendra has been working alongside Eileen as the studio manager since 2009. She is an artist; her mediums are oil paintings and wood / metal sculptures. Her practice and teaching is bright, joyous, disciplined, and often vigorous. She is deeply inspired by the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the 8-Limbed Path and weaves these seamlessly into her classes.

Eileen Daneri – Yoga Instructor

Eileen presently holds a 500 RYT, having received her yoga training at Karuna with Eileen Muir as her master teacher. She is an active member of her yoga and meditation community. Eileen offers classes filled with compassion and kindness to strengthen the body, mind and spirit.   She is clear, challenging, insightful, and motivating, and helps students create greater awareness and joy in their own lives.

Jamie Tancredi – Yoga Instructor


Jamie Tancredi is 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Certified by Karuna.  Transformed by the study of yoga and compassionate living she is constantly pursuing ways to share the experience of the union formed with the body, mind, and creator through the path of yoga.  She expresses this passion of unfolding as a process of becoming more truly who we are are.  She has also found her calling in the food arts creating and sharing, life-affirming, vegan food and facilitating events in the area that empower and bring people together.  She also co-facilitates a network of women’s circles.  She continues her study of yoga and considers herself a life-time student, as well as a student-of-life.

Susan Yard Harris – Yoga Instructor

Jo Schneiderman – Yoga Instructor

Jo Schneiderman is a experienced registered yoga teacher who has taught since 1973. She integrates her 30-year experience with yoga and movement into the Iyengar method of teaching. Jo believes that we discover our true self through the equanimity developed in the study of alignment of the physical and spiritual body in the asana practice.

Paul Menard – Yoga Instructor

Paul Menard began studying yoga in 2002 and has maintained a passionate practice ever since.  His background  in classical dance gives him profound appreciation for the intricacy of the form that the Iyengar tradition of yoga affords. His elegance and grace shines though his postures and the execution of his teaching.   Paul’s pursuit of a more spiritual practice led him to Karuna where he feels blessed to have found such an open and welcoming community.  In addition to yoga, Paul has a fervor for education. He completed his master’s degree in Adult Education and Training in early 2011 to compliment his career as a workplace learning and development professional. He is enrolled in the 300-hour advanced yoga teacher certification program at Karuna and is seeking other professional credentials as an educator. Paul is excited to connect his love of education and passion for yoga at Karuna.

Vanessa Serotta- Yoga Instructor

Vanessa is a 500-Hour RYT.  She received her certification from Eileen Muir.  She values the way asana practice brings us to know ourselves more intimately, and looks to the teachings of yoga philosophy to go deeper still.  In each of her classes, Vanessa offers her students an opportunity to make and savor this connection for themselves.

Chris Hamel – Yoga Instructor

Chris Hamel is a graduate of Karuna’s 200 Hour Teacher Training, and is currently enrolled in Karuna’s 300-Hour advanced teacher training. His interest in yoga was sparked at a young when he began practicing alongside a VHS of Rodney Yee. His interests reformed later when he began to study Indian Philosophy as a part of his bachelors degree at UMass Amherst. He loves the integration of spiritual practice and physical practice offered at Karuna and strives to keep a healthy balance of both in his classes and in his life. His main intention in practicing yoga is to achieve complete and total liberation for the benefit of the entire universe, and welcomes all to join him on his quest. He is also a poet and a musician and loves actively engaging in the arts of living, which in his case includes a lot of laughter.

Susan Elena – Yoga Instructor

Susan Elena Esquivel, RYT 500 has been studying yoga for the past 15 years. She completed a 500 hr. Iyengar based Advanced Teacher Training Program with Eileen Muir and is currently in a Yoga for Sc0liosis Program with Senior Iyengar Teacher Elise Miller. She has a strong interest in therapeutics, pranayama and yogic philosophy. She has studied with many top teachers such as Eileen Muir, Noah Mazé, Peentz Dubble, HS Arun, Amy Ippoliti and Doug Keller.
She believes that yoga is the gateway for healing and her goal is to enable her students to reconnect with their bodies and spirits.
She is also a nationally recognized artist/sculptor. During the past 7 years, 26 galleries have represented Susan Elena’s artwork and it has been included in over 30 top rated national art shows. Her work has won several awards and has been published in Ceramics Monthly, the Boston Globe, Martha’s Vineyard Magazine as well as the new book 500 Ceramic Sculptures. In addition to yoga, she loves gardening, cooking and playing the cello.
